Karen Hughes, HHM Inc. and Elizabeth Louden, College of Architecture, Texas Tech University recently published an article in the APT Bulletin discussing the origins and applications of 3-D laser scanning.  Although initially designed for engineering projects, the application of scanning for the documentation of historic resources in the field of Preservation provides a powerful tool to record buildings safely and more efficiently.  The article discusses several case studies completed in the collaboration between HHM, Inc. and Texas Tech University and funded by the Texas Department of Transportation.
